Urgent Update On AB1955
I’m reaching out to you today regarding a profoundly concerning development in California. The recent passage of AB1955, which bans schools from notifying parents about gender confusion experienced by their children, represents a significant and troubling shift in our state's policies.
Many, including myself, see this legislation championed by my opponent State Senator Scott Wiener as a direct threat to the fundamental role of parents in their children's lives. By labeling parental notification as a "forced outing," AB1955 disregards parents' deep love and protective instincts for their children.
We can protect the rights of parents and children while also supporting children dealing with these significant questions.
As Governor Gavin Newsom signed this bill into law, we began seeing immediate repercussions. Companies, including Elon Musk's SpaceX and X, announced plans to relocate their headquarters to Texas. Musk has been clear that laws of this nature are driving families and businesses away from California to safeguard their children.
We are in uncharted territory, and I urge you to stay informed and engaged. Our public schools should be places where parents and teachers work together to raise strong, healthy, moral youngsters. Unfortunately, this legislation threatens that collaborative spirit.
I will continue to advocate for policies that protect our children and uphold parental rights. Thank you for your attention to this critical issue.
